The most recent workshop took place at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, under the theme of capacity building. It focused on equipping educators with concrete skills in sourcing, evaluating, adapting, and licensing OER.
The workshop should have happened by the end of June but was delayed by some logistical challenges with funds disbursement from COL. The news story is yet to be published.
Activities at the workshop included metadata tagging exercises, licensing workflows, and hands-on editing sessions. Facilitators led participants through structured processes to ensure OER are contextually adapted and pedagogically robust.
Leadership from FCET, including the Provost, reinforced the significance of embedding open practices within institutional strategies and teacher education curricula.
The outcomes from the Gusau workshop, alongside previous activities and outputs will contribute to the design of a pan-African OER co-creation framework at the PCF11 pre-conference workshop.
